Email marketing has become a MUST for any internet marketer wanting to create a successful business, but why? What’s the point of having an email subscriber list when you are just starting out? Because it works!
As it’s often said, “the money is in the list” and it goes without saying that anyone with a website NEEDS to have an auto responder account to build a successful online business. On a conservative estimation, for every subscriber you have, they account for one dollar per month that your subscriber list will bring in. This is probably why all the hype about list building has come about. Anyone with a list size of 25,000 or more is sitting pretty right now.
The principle behind email marketing is to not just gain as many subscribers to your auto responder as possible, but to build a list of hungry buyers that trust you, value your expertise, and buy your offers over and over again.
To do this, you need to offer a “freebie” or something to entice the reader to give their name and e-mail in exchange for something of value like a free eBook, newsletter, or report. When you have a list of subscribers, you can reap the benefits from the work you did once. If a person subscribes to your list, but doesn’t buy anything initially, you can promote offers to them over and over again down the road.
Email marketing is all about communication from you, who is perceived as an expert in your niche, to your customers on your list. It is about starting a dialog and creating good customer relationships. So it’s important that you build trust with your list before you start pitching offers at them. The best way to build trust to your list is to offer great content, free tools, resources, software, and anything that will benefit the reader. Once you’ve established trust, your subscribers will be more responsive to your e-mails and will feel more comfortable buying from you.
In order to start using an auto responder service for your online business, you first need to have a domain and a hosting service. Out of the many services out there, I personally use Host gator and Aweber which I highly recommend. From there, you can choose a WordPress theme and set up a blog. Once you have set all of this up, you need to start driving traffic to your site to build your list–which can be done from the different traffic methods listed on my blog.
Another great way to build your email marketing list aside from article marketing and utilizing web 2.0 sites is to constantly take part in giveaway events and ad swaps.
